Popular Paint Colours for Bathroom Vanities (or even a kitchen island!)

When it comes to painting a bathroom vanity (or island for that matter), there's no need to stick with white when there are SO many awesome colours to choose from! And a vanity is a GREAT place for some depth or a splash of colour. Why? Because it's easier to commit to something a bit different on a smaller scale vs a large scale project like kitchen cabinets, which can be costly to redo if in five years if you're tired of the colour (or five months if you're like me).

1. Best Bathroom Vanity Colour: Gray or Charcoal

Definitely in the top three for vanity colours, gray is a great way to add interest to a bathroom without going over the top.

Benjamin Moore Baltic Gray

Baltic Gray sits on the LIGHT side of the medium-range. It has some body to it, but not the depth that some of the more traditional charcoals or grays can have. It's a warm gray with a purple undertone.

Sherwin Williams Dorian Gray

Dorian Gray is a similar depth to Baltic, but slightly warmer. And while it has a purple undertone as well, it does step back a wink and can sometimes pick up a faint whisper of green (super faint).

And remember, when you're choosing the best gray paint colour for your vanity, you need to pay CLOSE attention to the needs of your tiles and countertop. Find out which undertones you're working with and coordinate your gray paint colour from there! Every gray will have undertones and you'll want to make sure that they partner up!

If you want a bit more body on your cabinets – you better get nekkid baby, it is a bathroom after all! Oh, not THAT type of body – weirdo. Let's rephrase that…if you want a bit more DEPTH on your cabinets, then I've got some beauties for you to check out.

Benjamin Moore Chelsea Gray

Chelsea Gray is a solid, medium-toned gray that has been a fan fave for years. And while it's FRACTIONALLY warm (you'd hardly know it), it acts more like a standard charcoal and can sometimes pick up a SUPER duper vague green undertone (FULL REVIEW HERE).

Benjamin Moore Metropolis

Metropolis is a beautiful medium-toned WARM gray with a purple undertone. Remember, EVERY gray has undertones, so you need to pick the one that best suits your home!

Benjamin Moore Amherst Gray

The same idea as Chelsea Gray, but darker and the green undertone in Amherst Gray can sometimes show up just a wink more, depending on the products you're partnering it with.

Sherwin Williams Gauntlet Gray and Dovetail

These two are doing a similar thing, but while Dovetail is a medium depth paint colour, Gauntlet Gray is a medium-dark. They're both beautiful warm grays with vague purple undertones and rarely, a wink of green (FULL REVIEW OF GAUNTLET GRAY HERE / DOVETAIL HERE).

This next one is not a bathroom…obviously, but it's a great shot of Gauntlet Gray.

2. Best Bathroom Vanity Colour: Green

Green is SUPER popular these days – especially anything bordering on blue-green or a more emerald inspired colour.

Sherwin Williams Isle of Pines

Isle of Pines is a goooorgeous green with enough power to be interesting, but not so much that it heads into the primary end of things.

Sherwin Williams Hunt Club

Just like its name hints at, Hunt Club is a more traditional, classic green.

Benjamin Moore Yorktowne Green

Compared to the other two, you might find that Yorktowne Green seems just a WINK teal-inspired, and it is, while still being firmly planted in the green range.

3. Best Bathroom Vanity Colour: Greige

Greige is another great choice and can sometimes work better than gray if you're trying to transition out of the beige end of things. I say 'sometimes' as some bathrooms just CAN'T pull off gray or greige – it all depends on the existing finishes and what they can tolerate!

Benjamin Moore Kingsport Gray

Kingsport Gray is an awesome medium-toned greige, planted nicely between gray and greige with only minor allegiance to beige/brown.

Sherwin Williams Mega Greige

Mega Greige sits softer than Kingsport Gray. It's still a medium tone, but it has a bit less body/depth to it and can come across a wink more greige.

Sherwin Williams Keystone Gray

Keystone Gray is really along similar lines to Kingsport Gray, but it's a shift lighter and a touch grayer than Kingsport.

Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze

Urbane Bronze is a WICKED gorgeous super dark greige with undertones you just HAVE to check out!

Let's take a quick break to talk about paint samples…

4. Best Bathroom Vanity Colour: Dark or Navy Blue

Oooo, I love a beautiful blue vanity. It's classic and will be more timeless than green.

Benjamin Moore City Shadow

City Shadow is in BM's Colour Stories collection, meaning it's a HUGELY versatile, chameleon-like colour. In some lights, you might see it more like a blue-gray, while in other lights, you'll see a bit of green come up!

Sherwin Williams Cyberspace

Oooo, I love me some Cyberspace, it's one of my FAVE navy inspired colours. It's a navy blue, but not overpowering in colour due to its soft gray backdrop.

Benjamin Moore Hale Navy or Sherwin Williams Naval

Hale Navy is a super gorgeous navy blue. Not primary coloured, but not overly grayed-out either. Naval is along 'similar' lines, but a bit more classic and blue (FULL REVIEW OF HALE NAVY HERE).

And for the next photo, you might be thinking, 'Kylie MUST be in the cups today, that is definitely not a bathroom vanity!' I'll let you know, that if 'the cups' includes a venti vanilla latte, then hells yeah, I have fully indulged. However, once we hit noon, all bets are off on the wine-front, so you better hope I wrap this up quick. But really, I just wanted to show you how beautiful Cyberspace can be in action!

5. Best Bathroom Vanity Colour: Black

Black is BACK baby. It's strong, it's striking, but it can ALSO collect a lot of lint, dust and fingerprints, so keep that in mind!

Benjamin Moore Black 2132-10

Black (which can only be found in-store or online using the number above) is a more striking look compared to our next colour which is…

Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black

Tricorn Black is a softer approach, picking up an ALMOST slightly blueish cast in comparison to Black (but don't be mistaken, it's still black).

Sherwin Williams Iron Ore

Iron Ore is a soft black for sure, especially compared to the above two colours. It leans towards a very vague green undertone and more rarely, a flash of slate blue (like SUPER minor).

6. Best Bathroom Vanity Colour: White

If you aren't feeling the more colourful end of things, you may find that white gives you all of the inspiration you need!

Benjamin Moore White Dove

White Dove is one of my faves. It's a warm, soft white – not as creamy as some, but not a stark, clean white either (FULL REVIEW HERE).

SW Pure White

Pure White is an awesome white with just a WINK of softness to it (FULL REVIEW HERE).

BM Super White

Super White…is super white.

SW High Reflective White

High Reflective White follows right in the footsteps of Super White (FULL REVIEW HERE).
